About Me

My photo
Back Road Whispers is a fanciful name for just liking to travel the back roads of the world, wondering what whispers are lingering in the weathered buildings, rusty farm equipment and closed and boarded up businesses. I stop when I am able and “photograph the past for the future” so my grandchildren and their grandchildren will see what it was like back in the “good old days” of the 20th and early 21st century. Lately I have been exploring the world listening to whispers from palaces, castles, villages, and museums. The whispers need no interpretation.

LOOK OUT TO SEA....

Take your eyes off the TV, out of the book, or for that matter just open them and you might see a beautiful sunrise.

It teases you by peeking over the horizon, then dons its toupee getting ready for the day.

Finally it gets out of its watery bed and lights up the world for the rest of us.

This one was taken last October and caught someone fishing for their breakfast.  As you can see it doesn't matter what time of the year, the sunrise will be gorgeous.

When you see the gulls and pelicans lining up on the wall you know it is time for the shrimp boats to come in...I think of it as the "buffet line".  They don't bother even checking the pleasure craft or other non shrimping boats.

The Buffet Line

Dinner is served

If the shrimpers and fishermen leave any for you, you might get lucky ... but like the lottery, you first have to cast a line.   And if you aren't, you pack up and go home to try another day...it was still a good day.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land.  It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.  ~Chuck Clark

After the buffet, the birds came for dessert.  Let me preface these photos with WE HAD NOT SEEN THE SIGNS THAT SAID "DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS" until after these babies had their fill.

FOOD FIGHT!!!!!

We fed the birds in ignorance, no excuse but.....   The jerk that threw this trash, edible and inedible into the waters knew better.  God made us a beautiful world, please don't mess it up.
