About Me

My photo
Back Road Whispers is a fanciful name for just liking to travel the back roads of the world, wondering what whispers are lingering in the weathered buildings, rusty farm equipment and closed and boarded up businesses. I stop when I am able and “photograph the past for the future” so my grandchildren and their grandchildren will see what it was like back in the “good old days” of the 20th and early 21st century. Lately I have been exploring the world listening to whispers from palaces, castles, villages, and museums. The whispers need no interpretation.

RELAXING IN ROCKPORT

The Lighthouse Inn is a major go to for relaxation for my husband and I.  Along with good life long friends we spend the day exploring a bit, and the evenings sitting on the patio watching the silly pelicans and sipping a glass of wine. It doesn't get much better than this.

When you come into your room and open the blinds and look both ways and see this...you know you have chosen the right place!

Looking straight through the living room window. Slight zoom but not much, we are really that close to the water.  The shrimp boats, and other watercraft, come down right in front of the gazebo.

Looking slightly to our right and there is the fishing pier.  We talked to a fisherman and he said he caught flounder, red fish, and trout from here.  (I catch mine in the air conditioned restaurant without scales and heads!)

The grounds are beautifully kept both along the sidewalks and in the pool area.  These are just a sampling of the beautiful flowers and bushes around the grounds.

The butterflies loved all the flowers and they were fluttering here and fluttering there getting fat and happy on all the good nectar.

The gazebo was surrounded by hibiscus and it was used in the pool area too.  There was both double and single blooms.

These were right outside the rooms mixed in with sea grass and other plants surrounding the patios.

The secret entrance from the parking lot through the swimming pool area had these lining the walkway, along with other blooming and non-blooming plants.

 By the pool.

Our little friend let me follow him without worrying a bit.

The center of that double hibiscus was just gorgeous, my camera did it no justice!

Don't pick the flowers, there is a watch dog!!!
